New Video Page Fails (Redo Edition)

You may remember most of this title from my very first post. After looking at some of those posts, I thought I could do better. So I'm going to do just that.

It was the evening of March 31st, 2010. I was just surfing Youtube for random videos because I was bored. But as I was searching videos, the video page was changed. And in my brain I was screaming WTF! At first I thought was another one of Youtube's April Fool's Day pranks. But then I remembered that April Fool's Day didn't officially start for a few hours. In short, this change was planned out.

Right now, I've only described what I thought about the new video page. I haven't explained how it's bad. Well then, let's take it section by section. If you want to follow along, then just watch Youtube's "tour" of this god awful piece of crap. Now I'll be talking about each change as they're presented in the video, so pause frequently.

Masthead:

There are only a few things I can say about the masthead. When you scroll over your name, you now have to click on it to show options. On the old video page, just scrolling over it gave you options. The home, videos, channels, shows, subscriptions, and history options have also been removed. This makes it harder to look for certain videos or channels. In order to find shows, channels, and viral video, you now have to use the "browse" option. Subscriptions are still present, but now you can only access them by clicking on your name and then pressing subscriptions. As for history, you have to click subscriptions and search for the history option. Wouldn't it have been easier to just, I don't know, leave it unchanged? Finally, there's one thing that I've noticed on Youtube's masthead. They have an "Old Youtube" option. So this is what I'm getting? These greedy bastards at Youtube and Google can use the old video page whenever they want, but we, the lifeblood of Youtube, cannot? That's just being an ass right there.

"Information spread all over the page":

In the video, they say that they've grouped information together. What they failed to realize is that the old video page did the same damn thing. On the old video page, you have one section for subscriptions, one section for related videos, and one for playlists. Although all of them have been retained, the way Youtube has organized can be considered a downgrade. They placed subscriptions above the video player, and when you press the option to see more videos made by whoever made the video you're watching, then it moves the video player down, which interferes with the Youtuber's video viewing experience. On the old video page, the playlist, related videos, and more from this user option were to the right of the video player, and presented no problems whatsoever.

Seeing Statistics:

I don't remember much about video statistics on the old video page, but I'm sort of conflicted by how the new video page presents them. To view video statistics, you now have to click on the number of view. Clicking on it will reveal how many times a video has been added to favorites, the number of comments, how much attention the video received based off of consecutive views from related videos, how many times the video has been rated, the honors the video has received, and a demographic chart that determines which age group and country the video appeals to most. I'll give the new video page this, it does do a good job of presenting the stats, but there's just one little thing that makes me think. Does anyone other than the poster of that video care? I understand why Youtube would want to see the statistics, but not everybody else. The only thing that I find necessary are the number of times the video was rated and how it was rated. Unless you're writing an article about a video, this can be pretty useful. Anything else, not so much.

Video Queue:

What if we don't want to view another video directly? What if we want to rate, favorite and comment on the video before watching another one? The video queue just gets in the way. At least Youtube gave us the power to turn it on or off when we want to.

Comments:

This area is where Youtube screwed up quite a bit. To post a reply to a comment, mark it for spam, delete it, or rate it, you have to hover over the comment to show the options. For me, I find it easier if these options aren't hidden, just like the old video page. Youtube also added a highlights view, showing the highest rated comments and comments made by the video creator. These two features I find to be useless. I don't care about what the highest rated comments are. And I don't see any reason why I would want to read the comments the video creator makes as long as they're related to the actual video or a flame war going on in the comment section. I've also noticed a flaw in the highest rated comments section. It updates weekly to show the highest rated comments of the week. For example, let's say I make a comment that received a rating of 12. This ends up in the highest rated comment section. One week later, my comment is no longer up there and the highest rated comment shown has a rating of 8. In short, this addition should really called the "highest rated weekly comments" section. But wait, it just gets worse. The comments are now smaller than they were on the old video page, which makes the comments harder to read. and finally, there's the comment rating. There are a few flaws with this as well. On the old video page, when you rated a comment, its rating is immediately updated. On the new video page, it doesn't update immediately. Even if you refresh the page it doesn't update. It usually takes a few minutes or even hours before the damn comment is even gets an updated rating. Youtube has also hidden one feature that was previously invisible in the comment section, and that's the video response option. To post a video response, you now have to click on the comment box and scroll over to the video response option. Do you know how hard it was to figure out where that option went when this page was released? Pretty hard. It would have been better if this option was in plain view. Finally, on the old video page, you could give comments a positive or negative rating. This is present in the new video page... except the negative rating button doesn't work. I've tried pressing that button on comments that deserved a bad rating, waited a while, and nothing happened. I even waited a full day and still it didn't update. It's been 6 months since this page was introduced and this glitch still hasn't been fixed. FIX IT YOUTUBE!

Hunting For The Channel Name And Subscription Button:

Epic fail on Youtube's part. On the old video page, the channel name and the BIG YELLOW subscribe button was in a yellow sidebar. This sidebar also contained the video's tags, description, and honors. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU POSSIBLY MISS THAT? There's also one thing that Youtube has removed that was once in this sidebar. That sidebar showed your profile icon. On the new video page, the profile icon is gone. And the only way you can have anything close to a profile icon be displayed on the new video page is if you're a Youtube Partner. So in other words, on the new video page, Youtube only grants a few hundred people the ability to have an image displayed on the page, but not the other few million?

Actions Bar:

What can I say about the actions bar? Not much to be exact. The flagging and embedding hasn't changed much as far to my knowledge. On the other hand, Youtube has grouped together the favorites option with the playlists option. On the old video page, they were both separate, so it was easier to add a video to either. On the new video page, let's say you want to favorite a video. Your hand slips and you accidentally save it to a playlist. This accident would less likely on the old video page due to the amount of space between these options. The new video page just makes this blunder more likely to happen if your hand slips.

Ratings:
HOLY SH*T THEY MESSED THIS UP! For a video viewing site, the new rating system is not meant for Youtube. On the new video page, Youtube has replaced the 5 star rating system with the like/dislike rating system. As for why they switched around the rating system, this is why. Researchers at Youtube came to the conclusion that about 90% of Youtube users rate videos 1 star or 5 stars. The other 10% rated 2 stars, 3 stars, and 4 stars more often than the other 90%. I see a lot of problems with Youtube's decision. First off, videos are a lot like movies. There are some parts of a movie that you like, some that could have been better, and some that you absolutely hate. With the 5 star rating system, you can properly rate videos based off of the quality of each part of the video. With the like/dislike rating system, you have to say that the entire video was good, or the entire video was bad. Nothing is perfect, and nothing entirely sucks, so this means that for a video viewing site, this system is completely useless for rating videos. If they added something like a "not bad, but not good either" option, then it could work. But since Youtube hasn't made that option yet, the new rating system sucks.

Final thoughts:

The way I can sum up this entire redesign is like this. Imagine a stoner and a super genius working on a science fair project. In this case, the super genius would be the old video page, and the stoner would be the new video page. The super genius lays out his data carefully, made it easy to see everything, and had nothing on the final project display that interferes with his observations, evidence, etc. He gets an A+. The stoner on the other hand got high on meth, and rushed his project at the last minute. Plus the fact that meth makes you super fast doesn't help. It just makes things like these a hell of a lot worse. Everything was cluttered up on his display, his observations made no sense, and he failed to present his project to meet the requirements. He gets an F. In short, the new video page sucks, it should have been optional, and it should have been supervised efficiently.

Farewell Fail

New Layout = Fail

Another Hacker? But Who Is It?

*Disclaimer* Alright guys. Be prepared for what may be my longest blog yet. As of the date this is posted, this is a developing story. Also, if you cannot tolerate reading something that can be the length of a newspaper article, do not read this. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Okay down to the main business. This whole situation started about a week ago. A friend of youtube user jakers5853, or Jake, posted a video saying that he'll close his account. The username of that account was xithma. xithma recently gained 400 subscribers and he wanted to go out with a bang (according to me). He gave out really good reasons as to why he wanted to close his account and I supported him 100% of the way. But the next day, the bang he got wasn't the bang he intended.

The very next day, xithma got hacked. This forced xithma to have to use an alternate account. at first I didn't really want to get involved with this hacker, mainly because of past experiences (which you can read about in an earlier post), but the hacker stoked the fire when he threatened to hack someone who I recently have grown onto as a friend. He was Youtube user MeanGreenLuigi. He chose MeanGreenLuigi as a victim because of the comments he made on xithma's channel after the account was hacked. The hacker kept his promise and MeanGreenLuigi became another victim of this cyber criminal. Since he became a friend of mine, I knew that I had to take action.

I started to look for other accounts that have recently been hacked. That's when I found TheLightningStache. Now here's a brief history lesson. TheLightningStache was the hub account of a machinima group called Lightning Stache. It seemed like the account was hacked because TheLightningStache posted a comment on xithma's channel that said "Hacked by WarCorpse666". At first I didn't care as I didn't see how this was related to the current situation. But then the hacker I was dealing with posted this comment on TheLightningStache's channel. This comment said "WATCHA TALKING 'BOUT WILLIS I R U!!!!!!!" To me, this implied that whoever hacked xithma and MeanGreenLuigi hacked TheLightningStache as well and that the hacker was WarCorpse666.

That soon changed however when I saw comments on the hacker's most recent videos on the hacked accounts. Whoever watched them posted that Youtube user MamaLuigi4Brawl was the hacker. I believed them at first until MamaLuigi4Brawl made a video that convinced me otherwise. In that video, he said that he has no reason to hack xithma and MeanGreenLuigi. That soon led me back to believing that WarCorpse666 was the hacker.

Around the same time that MamaLuigi4Brawl was accused of being the hacker, the real hacker threatened to hack Youtube user LordPenguin777 if one of his recent videos on xithma's account didn't get 1000 comments in over a week. Knowing that his account was in danger, LordPenguin777 fake-hacked his account in hopes that it would keep the hacker away from him. Sadly, it didn't work and the account got hacked anyways. What pisses me off about this though is that it wasn't past a week yet but LordPenguin777 was still hacked. That's what I call a backstabber.

A few days later, xithma's account got suspended. Not his alt, but the hacked account. It turns out that people were flagging the videos the hacker posted on xithma's account, which led the account to receive enough strikes to get suspended. xithma was really pissed off about that and I think he still is. Other than that unfortunate accident, things turned for the better. MeanGreenLuigi recovered his account a few days later. But at the same time, I was asked to stop confronting the hacker. I was given a message from an anti hacker group on Youtube that they wanted me to stop confronting the hacker because they saw my methods of confronting the hacker as brash. Looking back at what was going on, I realized that they were right. I was confronting the hacker in ways that I shouldn't really have and it may have led my account and this blog into a really bad position. So I decided to stop confronting the hacker, but investigate him instead so that I wouldn't put myself into any real danger.

And now we move to today. LordPenguin777 is still hacked , which is a bummer. But that isn't the highlight. Today I found out that TheLightningStache was never really hacked. It turns out that three members of Lightning Stache, SuperSmashShows AKA PalerLaze, SmashtasmPakkery, and Smashogun only made it look like the account was hacked as a practical joke. This brought up good news and bad news. The good news was that the account was safe the whole time. The bad news was that this removed WarCorpse666 as a suspect. So if he wasn't the hacker, then who is? I still have that question running through my head as this situation goes on.

As long as that hacker is out there, I don't think anyone is safe. Everyone who commented on the videos the hacker uploaded have put themselves in danger. Everyone who posted comments on those hacked channels are in danger. Everyone who made videos regarding this situation are in danger. That sadly puts me in a triple threat because I did all three. But I do know a way out of it. You have to email Youtube at security@youtube.com about your situation and let them do the work. I certainly learned my lesson from this fiasco and I wish that this whole thing can end. But as of right now, I don't see any end in sight. This hacker has to be stopped, but now that you know how to report this hacker, I believe that my job involving this situation is done. I leave it to you, the Youtube users, to finish this fight. And if you encounter a hacker, I beg of you, do not make the same mistakes I made.

If you want me to talk about something that pisses you off, leave a comment on either this blog or on my Youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/Pianodeity08 You can also email me at pianodeity08@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time and I'll see you in another blog.\

*Update* July 26, 2010 It may be possible that TheLightningStache was actually hacked by WarCorpse666. When I first made this blog post, it was after a video was posted by TheLightningStache saying that the account was never hacked and was all a joke. But if you look at the tags of the video, there is a message. The message says "Just kidding. This channel is still hacked by Warcorpse666." I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but just in case, I don't want to get too involved with this again. Besides, I have a bigger fish to deal with at the moment. Speaking of this bigger fish, I'll be making another blog post once the current situation I'm dealing with is done

Gameplay VIdeos Are Copyright Infringement? And What The F*ck CONJOPI!

Hey guys. It's me again with another post that's really pissing me off. Who here likes video games? Now who likes it when other gamers walk you through video games with added commentary via Youtube? I am a fan of both if you cannot tell from what I favorite on Youtube. These walkthroughs, or Let's Play's as they're better known as, have helped my beat plenty of the games I have. To name a few, these videos helped me beat Metroid Prime 3: Corruption 100% and on Hypermode as well as Mega Man 10. There are plenty of Let's Players out there, but my favorite has to go to NintendoCapriSun. There's only one problem though. HE JUST GOT SUSPENDED BY SOME LOWLIFE SCUM! I f*cking loved that guy, and if I were gay, I'd probably want to have sex with him. What I didn't really understand is why would somebody suspend him? I mean, just look at these moments of his!

Why would you want to suspend somebody this funny? Is it illegal or something to upload gameplay videos? Well apparently it may be. I don't have all the details, but I do know a fellow blogger and friend that can explain more about this. Just go to http://paratroopayoshi.blogspot.com/ and you'll get more information concerning gameplay videos and copyright laws.

To tell the truth, I'm not really all that good with law, but I do know this. Whoever suspended him is the same type of guy that f*cked up Spongebob, the same type of guy who can't make a funny cartoon (I have a whole list of cartoons that should be mentioned now, but I'll do it later in the future), and the same type of guy who's just a downright jackass! Whoever suspended NintendoCapriSun won't stop this steaming pile of bull crap from occuring. He'll do the same to Chuggaaconroy and then he'll hit the big money maker that is Machinima.com If you're the douche that got NintendoCapriSun suspended, I have two words for you. F*ck you!

And that's one thing that's been pissing me off lately, but there's something else that's been pissing me off even more. Come back tomorrow as I rant about what else has been going on recently.

If you want me to talk about something that pisses you off, leave a comment on either this blog or on my Youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/Pianodeity08?feature=mhw5 You can also email me at pianodeity08@yahoo.com.Thank you for your time and I'll see you in another blog.

*Update* I just heard that the person who managed to get NintendoCapriSun suspended, Youtube user CONJOPI, has been suspended as well. Turns out he was using false DMCA claims to get NintendoCapriSun suspended and now it's come back to bite him in the ass. Two things come to my mind when I think of this.
1.Douche had it coming.
2. We really need DMCA reform so stuff like this doesn't happen again.

*Update 2* I recently found out that Chuggaaconroy has recently been suspended as well due to the same circumstances. I have every reason to believe that CONJOPI is responsible for this as well. He did have Chuggaaconroy on his "victims list" prior to being suspended and it seems he isn't giving up. It's possible that CONJOPI used false DMCA claims against Chuggaaconroy, just like he did with NintendoCapriSun. CONJOPI is abusing DMCA, and if I recall, that is a felony. So that means that every time he gets somebody suspended due to false DMCA claims, he gets two counts of DMCA abuse on his criminal record. Youtube, if you're reading this, DMCA needs reform and CONJOPI needs to be brought to justice.

The Top 5 Ways Youtube Can Change

Ever since I first joined the anti-beta movement, I've really been noticing some issues with Youtube in general ever since it was bought by Google. And it's gotten to the point where I want it to change for the better. What you're about to read is my Top 5 ways that Youtube can change for the better.

Number 5:
This one came to my attention when I was fiddling around with the new moderator module. To get the darn thing working, I had to link my Youtube and Google accounts. Even after I linked them, sometimes the module never worked. I kept trying to link them over and over again, but the same results occurred. In other words, number 5 on this list is to MAKE UPDATES THAT ACTUALLY WORK! Seriously! You think for one of the most well known technological companies on the planet, you'd think that they'd manage to expect such things to happen.

Number 4:
This next problem has been going on since Google bought Youtube. When Youtube was still for sale, Google was competing with another big company called Viacom. Viacom is a company that owns other well known websites and corporations such as Spike, Dreamworks, Paramount, and even Nickelodeon. In other words, they own Spongebob and they made the show really gay in the later episodes. Going back on topic now, Google eventually bought Youtube. That's when the trouble started. Ever since, Viacom has been suing Youtube for billions of dollars over copyright clips from material they own. What makes it even worse is that half of those clips were posted by Viacom themselves. And to top it all off, they've been posting Youtube videos on spike.com without the original owner's consent. In other words, Viacom is guilty of piracy. This is evidence that Youtube can use to stop the lawsuits. And what is Youtube doing? Absolutely nothing. So number 4 on this list is USE THIS EVIDENCE TO END THE F*CKING LAWSUITS! Enough said.

Number 3:

This next issue has been pretty recent. As of March 31st, 2010 to be exact. If you recognize this date, then you know what I'm talking about. Number 3 on this countdown is OUT WITH THE NEW LAYOUT, IN WITH THE OLD! You may remember the flaws about this layout from my very first post. But for those who forgot, you can still see that entry. I also forgot to mention some things which I think I should raise up now. Alongside the flaws listed in my first post, you have to go to the post comment area just to make a video response, and the profile icons are gone. Also, have you watched the videos of big names of Youtube like Shane Dawson, Fred, Smosh, and nigahiga? If you look at the area where the name of their account is, you can see that it's been replaced with a custom image. Most of those listed accounts have such images. And do you know what else they have in common? They're all Youtube Partners. So in other words, the only way you can have something close to a profile icon showing on the video layout is if you're a Youtube partner! One last thing about the layout. Google said they made this layout to deal with clutter. Well Google, if you wanted to deal with clutter, you should have looked at the next entry on this list.

Number 2:

You all saw this one coming. Number 2 on this list is GIVE US BACK THE OLD CHANNELS YOU GREEDY BASTARDS! When Brian Glick first unveiled the beta channels, millions were disgusted by them. Everything was too close together, you couldn't show your custom made background, and it had many glitches that weren't seen by Google. What's worse is that even after these complaints were heard, Glick decides to be a total douche and for this design onto all Youtube users. Now to tell you the truth, I never actually grew up with the old channels. But when I saw the old channels and saw how godlike they were when compared to the beta channels, I was like this. "What the f*ck? What the f*ck?! WHAT THE F*CK?!!!!!!!!" Yeah, I think that reaction there was enough to explain everything. But wait! If the beta channels aren't number one, what is?

Number 1:

Number one is something that I find repugnant. Remember when I said that Glick forced the beta channels onto us even after all the complaints? Well, Youtube did the same thing with the new video layout. And the glitches. And the frustration. We clearly said no to all of these and they force them onto us like our words mean nothing. Which brings me to number one on this list. GIVE US OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH BACK! PUT THE "YOU" BACK IN YOUTUBE! Before Google bought Youtube, our words changed the very structure of Youtube and the global community that it gave birth to. On that faithful day, when Google bought Youtube, the foundation of Youtube and the Youtube community began to slowly break. Like a wall being crushed down by bombs. Eventually, the impact from all those bombs will be so big, the foundation of Youtube and the Youtube community will cease to exist. We, the Youtubers, have the power to change that. And we aren't being granted that power by the very bombs that are tearing down our wall! Google, if you're reading this, give us our rights back. We want our words to have an impact on the Youtube community, and with it, the internet and possibly the world!

So let's recap this before we end:
Number 5: MAKE UPDATES THAT ACTUALLY WORK!
Number 4: USE THIS EVIDENCE TO END THE F*CKING LAWSUITS!
Number 3: OUT WITH THE NEW LAYOUT, IN WITH THE OLD!
Number 2: GIVE US BACK THE OLD CHANNELS YOU GREEDY BASTARDS!
And Number 1: GIVE US OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH BACK! PUT THE "YOU" BACK IN YOUTUBE!

I hope that this has gotten to you and has made you want to make a difference. Well, you can make that difference if you try. And if at first you don't succeed, try again until you get it right. Alone, we are not much, but together, we are unstoppable. So please, let us work together to put the "You" back in Youtube.

*UPDATE 6/23/2010* I just checked out Youtube's blog and they've finally won the case against Viacom. That's one problem down the drain, now we only have four left to deal with.

xmrwizardx Is Officially a Cyber Criminal

Sorry it's been a while since I made a post. Nothing has come up recently that I felt like talking about in May. That changed two days ago when xmrwizardx returned to Youtube. After being hacked, he wanted revenge, so he found a hacking device, a password cracker to be exact, to get his revenge. He first referred to it as a "secret weapon." When he came back, he threatened to hack me, jakers5853, and 00Helix00. He managed to hack 00Helix00 to persuade me and Jake that he had a hacking device. But he was stupid enough to leave 00Helix00's account the way it was, allowing 00Helix00 to log back on that account about a half hour later.

Meanwhile, Jake and I were powerless. At least that was what xmrwizardx thought. When he logged out of 00Helix00's account, I managed to get contact with the person who hacked him the last time and told him the situation. Right now, I can only refer to him as Anonymous. Anonymous decided to help us out and got right to work cracking his password. Since I knew I was safe now, I decided to have a little fun.

After I managed to contact Anonymous, xmrwizardx told me to make a mean comment on the channel of Youtube user TheNoBetaMovement However, he didn't say who to target the comment to. So, using his poor choice of words and my sense of humor, I said "XxmrwizardxX wants me to say that he is a big fag." Note that I said XxmrwizardxX because that was the name of xmrwizardx's account at the time. When he saw the comment though, my fun ended. He threatened to hack my account again, but a few minutes after that, Anonymous kept his promise and stopped him.

Now you may be thinking, shouldn't Anonymous be in trouble because he hacked? Well, not necessarily. A few months ago, I read a book about cyber crime regarding hackers. It turns out that there are two types. Type #1 is the Black Cap. Black Caps are the hackers that are considered cyber criminals. These hackers are the brains behind phishing, spamming and cyber terrorist plots. Or they just hack to steal accounts. Since xmrwizardx threatened to hack my account, that makes him a Black Cap. The second kind of hacker is the White Cap. White Caps are hackers that stop the schemes run by Black Caps. Since Anonymous only hacked xmrwizardx to save three accounts, that makes him a White Cap. Now I hope that this lesson in cyber crime will let you be aware of how to tell the good hackers from the bad.

Before I give out my usual ending message, I want to let you guys in on a little update. Right now I'm thinking of turning What Pisses Me Off into a vlog series. If this comes to happen, then all future blogs will be posted as videos on Youtube. If you look forward to such a thing, subscribe and stay tuned.

If you want me to talk about something that pisses you off, leave a comment on either this blog or on my Youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/Pianodeity08?feature=mhw5 You can also email me at pianodeity08@yahoo.com. Thanks for reading and I'll see you in another blog.

xmrwizardx is Getting Really Annoying

While I was dealing with the BetaTubeFaggy (more details about that in The BetaTubeFaggy Returns Again) I encountered yet another dumbass. This one goes by the username xmrwizardx. Here's the real deal though. I didn't come to him. He came to me. When he first got to my channel, he placed a comment on my channel calling me a fag. And what pisses me off even more is that I didn't say anything to this guy prior to this. Because of that, I assumed that he wanted attention. His way of doing it however is totally retarded (does it remind you of somebody). I tried to give him some friendly advice but he called me a fag again. I deleted his comments and ignored him.

The next day, I found out he was HACKED! Let me just sincerely say that I did not hack the guy. When I heard the news, I was all like "Well, that's karma for ya." I thought he was gone for good, until just yesterday. xmrwizardx came back with a new account. I can tell that he wasn't very creative with the name. The username was xmisterwizardx. Anyway, I went to his channel, and gave him the same advice, but I did something a little different this time. This time, I blocked him so he wouldn't make stupid comments on my channel. And surprisingly, others followed my example and blocked him as well. As of right now, this one-sided war is still going on.

My overall summary of this guy: He's a dumbass who just doesn't know when to stay away from things he shouldn't get involved with. In other words, he's a failtroll.

If you're interested in giving some helpful advice to this guy so he won't be such a nuisance, click this link and post your comment. http://www.youtube.com/xmisterwizardx It'll help us all if you do so. By the way, to post your comment, you'll need a Youtube account. So if you don't have one, then make one.

Noobs in Online Gaming

We've all been in this situation. Let's pretend you're playing a good game of, say, Call of Duty. You just got an epic kill and you feel like nothing can stop you. But then, somebody hiding behind the nearest tree gets a cheap kill on you and brags about it being skill. That wasn't skill there. That was called being a noob. A noob is a term used in online gaming to describe somebody who downright sucks at playing online games. There are many types of noobs out there, and all of them piss not just me off, but every good gamer out there as well.

From personal experience, I've pretty much encountered every type of noob there is. Through some "research", I've sorted each one into a group.

Group 1: The Regular Noob
This type of noob thinks that he's good at the game he's playing when really he's not. This is the most basic form of a noob.

Group 2: The Camper
I've encountered this type of noob the most throughout my online gaming experiences. The Camper likes to hide in various places, waiting for people to come near it. The objective of the camper is to get cheap kills off of other players in order to get their rank up or just to piss people off. In games where you can't hide, such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the camper just runs to various places and does various motions or taunts that seem to indicate that he's mocking the other players.

Group 3: The Spammer
This type of noob is mostly exclusive to games that aren't of the first person shooter genre. This type of noob does the simple task of using the same move over and over and over and over again. Spammers are just as common as campers in online gaming.

Group 4: The Uber Noob
This type of noob isn't as common as the other groups. The Uber Noob is mostly a combination of the other types, but can be even more annoying by using hacks that affect gameplay. Some refer to this group as hackers. However, not all of them have access to hacks, so saying that they're all hackers is a common stereotype.

My overall summary of all these groups: GET SOME F*CKING SKILL PEOPLE! YOU'LL MAKE CERTAIN PEOPLE MUCH HAPPIER!

This doesn't end here however. It also turns out that the very game itself can determine a type of noob encounter. This time, there are only three stages, so there's a little less reading to do.

Stage 1: You encounter any type of noob, yet aren't sure if he is mocking you or not. Games that lack a voice chat system, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart, can be placed in this stage.

Stage 2: You encounter a noob and you know for certain that he's mocking you. Games that have a voice chat system, such as Halo, Call of Duty, and Gears of War, fall into this stage.

Stage 3: You encounter an Uber Noob using gameplay affecting hacks at his disposal for the sole purpose of winning. Any game can fall into this stage, regardless if there is a voice chat system.

You're probably asking, why did I sort this out like a research study? The answer to that is that I couldn't think of any other way to sort it. And if anyone is offended by how I sorted this, then I'm sincerely sorry and open up to any suggestions on how to make this feel less like a lab experiment.
